Terra Mater BV and Hyperfuels LLC have formed a strategic partnership to expand the distribution of Terrox, a low-carbon, ethanol-free fuel blend component intended for the marine markets along the U.S. East Coast. Announced at the International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo in St. Louis, this collaboration combines Terra Mater’s patented 2X low-carbon oxygenate technology with Hyperfuels’ speciality fuel distribution network. Together, they aim to provide boaters, marina operators, and marine dealers with practical, sustainable fuel solutions that do not require modifications to existing fueling infrastructure.
Terrox is formulated to blend with gasoline and burn more cleanly than traditional gasoline, helping reduce smog-forming compounds and harmful airborne toxins. Since it contains no ethanol, the product is also aimed at reducing moisture absorption and phase separation, two common fuel issues that can impact boat engines, storage tanks, and seasonal fuel performance.
Terra Mater’s production facility at North Sea Port, along with global partners, is positioned to supply the initial volumes of Terrox, with plans to produce approximately 6,000 metric tonnes annually. The companies also see opportunities to support local U.S. production as demand grows. The initial marine rollout is scheduled for Q3 2026, with the companies targeting marina operators, marine dealers, and specialised fuel distributors along the East Coast.
The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has recognised the value of drop-in sustainable marine fuels that work with existing recreational boat engines and fuel systems, and the companies stated that Terrox is designed to fit that profile when blended into gasoline. NMMA has also emphasised the category of sustainable marine fuels as a practical route for reducing emissions in recreational boating without requiring boaters to modify engines or fuel systems.
“Marine customers are increasingly looking for fuel options that deliver both reliability and environmental value,” said Jess Hewitt, Director and Owner of Hyperfuels LLC. “Terrox gives boaters and marine fuel providers a practical, lower-carbon option that works in the real world.”
Dr Kapil Shyam Lokare, CEO and Co-founder of Terra Mater BV, stated that this collaboration aligns with the company’s long-term strategy to scale lower-carbon oxygenates in important markets. “This partnership is an important step in bringing our patented 2X technology to the United States,” Lokare said. “The marine sector market presents a strong opportunity for solutions that improve fuel quality while supporting broader sustainability objectives.”
