About Promotion Council North Sea Port

The Promotion Council North Sea Port foundation is a non-profit organisation with over 150 participants, mainly active in the port and maritime sectors. The main objective of the foundation is to enhance the position of North Sea Port and the businesses within the seaport. Companies and institutions that have a direct or indirect interest in this objective, can become participants.

Promotion Council North Sea Port offers the parties concerned with the port area a platform to meet, exchange information and do business. It is a networking organisation that wants to bring everyone involved in North Sea Port together and facilitate stronger connections.

By this joining of forces and the participants’ shared interest, the promotion council wants to position the cross-border seaport regionally, nationally and internationally as an attractive portal to and from North-Western Europe. Moreover, as an optimal, congestion-free alternative to neighbouring seaports!

For the port community, by the port community

Promotion Council North Sea Port acts as port ambassador on behalf of its participants. The foundation’s activities are comprised of organising the business network within the port, nationally and internationally promoting the port and creating, enhancing and maintaining broad public support for the port across the region.

Networking opportunities

  • General Participants Meeting: Apart from administrative matters, the General Participants Meeting offers an opportunity to discuss current and relevant developments in the port. After the meeting, there is a networking reception with buffet.
  • Port lunch: The port lunch offers participants (or third party representatives) the opportunity to give presentations about interesting developments in their businesses.
  • Company visits: During company visits, attendees enjoy a comprehensive tour around a selected participant’s business, including a presentation and an informal get-together afterwards.
  • Golf event: The annual golf event for participants is organised in cooperation with North Sea Port.
  • Havenpalaver: The end of year celebration is called ‘Havenpalaver’, which translates to ‘port parlay’. During this festive event, participants get together to look back at the year past and discuss the times ahead.
  • Newsletter: Six times a year, a digital newsletter is sent out to participants and relevant contacts of the promotion council.

Promotion

  • Trade fairs and missions: Promotion Council North Sea Port facilitates its participants to exhibit at (inter)national trade fairs and join trade delegations, or takes part in such events on behalf of its participants. In most cases, participation takes place in close cooperation with North Sea Port.
  • Welcoming stakeholders: Promotion Council North Sea Port regularly welcomes influential port-related stakeholders and decision-makers to the port, often in consultation and cooperation with North Sea Port.
  • Presentations: For interested parties, Promotion Council North Sea Port gives presentations about the port and the promotion council’s participants.

  • Service: Promotion Council North Sea Port offers participants advice and support regarding promotional activities.

Public support

  • Zeeuwse havendag: Once every two years, Promotion Council North Sea Port organises the Zeeuwse Havendag (Port Day of Zeeland), to introduce the companies in the port to the general public and provide an opportunity to experience the port to anyone interested. Vlissingen and Terneuzen both host job fairs that allow companies from the port area - also from the Flemish part – a chance to present themselves and potentially recruit new employees.
  • Educational projects: Promotion Council North Sea Port organises and participates in projects that motivates children and teenagers to choose a career path in the port industry.
  • Sparring partner and advisor: Promotion Council North Sea Port is eager to contribute to initiatives that are aimed at the enhancement of North Sea Port’s position. These initiatives can have numerous focus areas: transport and logistics, port policy, labour market, education, sustainability, safety, cross-border projects or the promotion of North Sea Port.
