Vlaeynatie expands by opening three new warehouses in Westdorpe

With the opening of three brand-new warehouses, providing 30,000 m² of additional storage and processing capacity, Vlaeynatie's expansion is now a reality. This move strengthens the company's position as a logistics partner in North Sea Port.

The three new warehouses will be used mainly for the storage, bagging and value-added services of fertilisers and are equipped with two brand-new, advanced bagging lines: one for big bags and one for 25 kg bags. The warehouses offer space for both bulk and packaged goods. With this expansion, Vlaeynatie seeks to respond to the exponential demand for logistics solutions for its customers, not only for inorganic fertilisers but also for other products such as powdered speciality chemicals, minerals, and related products.

Multimodal terminal
Vlaeynatie is accessible by three modes of transport: water, rail, and road. “Together with our strategic location in the North Sea Port area, these are additional advantages in terms of accessibility, especially now that the port of Antwerp is becoming increasingly congested,” says Lieven Vander Elstraeten, CEO of Vlaeynatie. “Our good reputation and quality of service also contribute to the exponential growth in volumes. Expanding capacity was therefore a logical step and supports the diversification of Vlaeynatie's range of services.”

Furthermore, North Sea Port has constructed, in collaboration with Vlaeynatie, a new road structure to the terminal, including a safe bicycle path, which enables a more efficient, safer, and more sustainable transport to and around the company.

About Vlaeynatie
Vlaeynatie was founded in 1845 in Antwerp and renewed itself in 2015 on the Axelse Vlakte in Westdorpe, in North Sea Port, near the Dutch-Belgian border. In addition to fertilisers, the company also specialises in the storage and processing of sugar at the Zeeland Sugar Terminal, an advanced terminal that is also part of Vlaeynatie. With its very own container terminal (3MCT) and companies active in transport (Swagemakers), freight forwarding (AWL), and chartering (CBS), Vlaeynatie offers integrated logistics solutions within the supply chain. At the end of last year, CEO Lieven Vander Elstraeten spoke to PortNews about the (then) planned expansion and the future of the company.
