Jan De Nul obtains dredging contract for the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal

For the past four years, dredging company Jan De Nul has ensured that the Ghent–Terneuzen Canal in Belgium remained navigable, and they will keep doing so in the year ahead. This will allow large seagoing vessels to reach the port, keeping North Sea Port fully accessible.

The contract is commissioned by the Flemish Departement Mobiliteit en Openbare Werken. Although the contract expires on 1 May 2026, it can be renewed three times.

"Ensuring waterways stay navigable around the globe is one of our key ambitions," the company states. "Because transport over water means lower emissions, less congestion, and fewer accidents compared to road or air transport."
